THE CANVAS

Robert Braid was a genius when he moved into his home and one day decided "Hey, I wanna throw shows and gigs at my house." Several months later, "The Canvas" has been somewhat of a regular staple as far as house concerts go. Indie goes, scenesters, and music fanatics make up the bulk of this mish/mash scene going on there and you know what, it's brilliant! Not only does he provide a venue for a younger demographic that might not get a chance to play in the bars (yet) but also makes way for new talent to come fourth with a platform to present themselves (alongside the already amazing talent we have here in Saskatoon that has played there.)

In several months it's gone from an idea to a pretty cool institution that has already had print media coverage, international acts, and in the end, just one sound complaint. I'm down with it and so should you!

Where did June go?

Ok, so I get it. QK starts a blog with his friends and then it goes stale within a week...

In my defense, I wish that the blog could be recorded through what I have been hearing this past month and through my eyes to the amazing musicians I've met. A couple posts back I was rambling about MoSoFest and honestly, that weekend was a milestone for music here. It was not the epic numbers or attendance that made it a success, it was the the community and multiple scenes that got together to celebrate music. Love goes out to all that played and made it happen. Lets do it again next year?
